The Prosper Independent School District (PISD) offers a Middle School Advanced Spanish Program for students who have completed a continuous five-year Spanish learning sequence in elementary Dual Language or Spanish Immersion programs. This program is currently available at Middle School.
Course Offerings:
1. Spanish II: Middle School Advanced Spanish Program (Year-long) – FS200A/B
- Grade Level: 6
- Credit: 1.0 high school credit
- GPA Weight: On-Level
- Description: This introductory course in the Middle School Advanced Spanish Program aims to enhance students’ existing language skills, focusing on reading and writing through Spanish fiction and nonfiction texts. It also emphasizes the connection between first language skills and second language acquisition. The course targets proficiency levels from novice high to intermediate low and is conducted in Spanish.
- Prerequisite: Successful completion of the Prosper ISD Dual Language program or an equivalent program for new enrollees to the district.
2. Spanish III Honors: Middle School Advanced Spanish Program (Year-long) – FS310A/B
- Grade Level: 7 or 8
- Credit: 1.0 high school credit
- GPA Weight: Honors
- Description: As the second course in the sequence, this class emphasizes advanced thinking, reading, and writing skills using cross-curricular contexts and Hispanic literature. It further develops speaking and listening abilities, aiming for intermediate low to mid proficiency levels. The course is conducted entirely in Spanish.
- Prerequisite: Completion of Spanish II: Middle School Advanced Spanish Program.
3. Honors Spanish IV: Middle School Advanced Spanish Program (Year-long) – FS410A/B

- Description: This third course in the program focuses on high-level critical thinking, reading, and writing, incorporating cross-curricular contexts and Hispanic literature.
